A high school in the center of Dunkirk was transformed into an Academy of Music & Dramatic Art. In response to the venue's new requirements, an acoustic correction solution combining impact resistance with a stylish design, easy care and simple maintenance was needed to ensure the well-being of the academy's users (teaching staff, administrative personnel, students, etc.)
In busy premises (schools, industrial facilities, etc.), it is essential to prioritize comfortable living conditions for occupants, such as students and teachers. In this type of building, acoustic comfort plays an important role, which also includes effective impact resistance and easy cleaning. Following a study commissioned by Dunkirk's authorities, the acoustic needs were defined in a specification document to determine the number of panels required to provide the best acoustic conditions. Therefore, Plafometal proposed a solution to satisfy these many requirements: Acoustiroc® is an acoustic metal wall panel system made of perforated painted metal panels filled in with an acoustic fleece and mineral wool, framed by aluminum profiles.
The study determined that 41 panels (790 x 2700 mm) would be installed in the academy's different rooms. In addition, the metal coating ensures the product's long service life and easy cleaning.
Acoustiroc® panels allow for new architectural designs with the Orion perforation, which was chosen for its original and creative appearance (round, irregular perforations). The city's technical services and the Dunkirk Academy focused their choice on seven different contemporary colors to produce an urban or invigorating style and accentuate the artistic and fantasy feel:

The "Soft Touch" finish adds a high-end touch and feel to the colors specifically selected by Plafometal. The matt textured finish adds warmth to the metal by creating depth. It applies to all colors, except for Blanc Pur and Vert Anis.
Lastly, the 41 panels measuring 790 x 2700 mm have been installed throughout the different rooms (music rooms, instrument studios, teaching rooms, social areas and administrative offices) to guarantee acoustic comfort in each area.
The vertical wall coverings fitted near the musical instruments bring an original touch combined with acoustic comfort to deliver superior performance for students and musicians alike.
